Couch potato culture

I've got a theory on the SUV's! I think people just want it to be like their living room. Loads of leg room and they don't want to feel bumps etc. I've been looking in a car magazine recently and what they say about SUV's is quite amazing!

One of the customers comments was that all the kids wanted a lift to school their new SUV. When I was young I can't remember having any interest in SUV's, and I still don't. I would have much prefered something like a sports car. I'm really supprised that the kids like them.

The magazines seem to make them look good too. Eg. the Land Rover Disco gets 7-10 for running costs, where as my car (Fiat Seicento) only gets 3-10. My car comes in 899cc or 1.1l, which have a combined consumption of 43mpg or 47mpg. The Disco gets 18mpg - 27mpg from Diesels! In addition to this the Disco is £20,000 to £40,000 more expensive, and insurance is a lot more. How can they say that they are cheap to run?

The car magazine also seem to be very inconsistant. This particular magazine (Parker's car chooser) also thinks that the gearbox, and steering have something to do with the handling-ride :-o. From their reviews it also makes me wonder whether they have actually driven the cars :-(. Another magazine says that my car is very cheap to run lol.
