Sounds to me as though your main source of information on this subject might be the Daily Mirror, or worse still, accident statistics. For instance, a slightly flippant example I admit, drivers in Portugal could quite possibly be the best in the world, however an unfortunate habit of driving when peeed makes a mess of their accident statistics.
Well, if your driving style in any way approaches the depravity of your posting style then I could imagine that various European road safety organisations would consider declaring a national emergency if they knew you were within 50km of their national borders.- :)
Neither does an arbitrary line drawn on a map, yet you are quite happy to rank European driving standards according to nationality. If language does not distinguish one country from another then what does? I don't think it is realistic to sweepingly dismiss one country as bad drivers or praise another as universally good, they are just different IMO. Interestingly, in the "Northern drivers" thread you are quite happy to distinguish between individual towns in the UK as far as driving standards are concerned but when it comes to Europe you glibly refer to the Italians or the Germans as if they were one homogeneous mbutt. As far as Belgium is concerned, I notice the cultural change when crossing the language line more than when crossing either the Northern or Southern ( or Eastern for that matter ) national border. A different culture brings with it a different driving style, not better or worse, just different IMO.
