space more

Its easier to drive forwards. It's easier to drive out of a space than into it.

I'd say that's a rather warped theory, myself. Why? Well, are you sitting comfortably?

Here goes then:

Just to start, I agree with the first bit about it being easier to drive forwards.

1. It's easier to drive out of a space going forwards than backwards.

2. It's easier, IMHO, to back into a space than drive forwards into one - obviously you've got to look for other cars in the car park moving about, but from a spatial awareness POV, you've got the buttistance of your side mirrors to help you see how close you are to the cars either side of you, whilst driving in forwards if you get particularly close it's more difficult to judge as you've got no visual buttistance.

3. It's a lot easier backing into a space than backing out of one - backing in, save for cars moving out of spaceson the inside of the reversing curve, as it were, there's only one way cars will be approaching from in the direction you'll be moving (until straightened up). If reversing out, you'll have to back out straight a bit further to avoid the front end swinging out and hitting other cars, so there's two directions that you'll need to be more aware of, plus they'll be harder to see as your view's more likely to be blocked by adjacently parked cars.

out might I simply look straight backwards over my shoulder, and if any cars were to approach from either direction, I'd see them out the corner...
