Apparently on date Sun, 20 Mar 2005 11:20:46 +0000, "T." They tend not to include an element of petrol. Indeed. I'd rather have the hbuttle of sitting in my comfortable seated, air conditioned car with...

I was listening to BBC Southern Counties Radio this afternoon (no, that's not why I need help :-).

In recent months, they have been following the progress of one of their staff as she learns to drive, and through her multiple driving tests until she finally pbutted last October. Today she confessed that she had only recently driven alone in the dark for the first time - a bit scary after all these months, but circumstances often mean that it will be thus. The really scary bit was that she got someone in to look at her car because "the headlights were very dim." The mechanic-electrician looked at it and found nothing wrong. It transpired that she'd been driving on sidelights all this time, and even now is not clear about the distinction between then, and what sidelights actually are.

1. Don't they teach you about things like lights when you learn to drive? Are you not supposed to know the Highway Code, which covers these things? 2. Taking a test in October, I would have thought she would have done some learning in the dark. Surely the instructor-co-driver-pbuttengers should have pointed this out? 3. What other aspects of driving-essential controls is she unaware of?

The lady in question always did come across as a bit of an airhead on the radio.
