Denver makes pot legal Look out for stoned drivers on the highway 3062

Funny story... in Australia, most of the "Speed Kills" research-spin is pumped out by one of two Universities. This research is state government funded. Of course, the results are always "Exceeding the speed limit by even a fraction is always dangerous" ("may we have more funding now"). As a result of this research, Victoria's hidden speed camera network now enforces the speed limit by 3km-h (1.87mph).

Whenever justifying tougher speed enforcement, higher fines etc, all state governments will always point back to the outcomes of this research, and only this research.

The loony in charge of said "speeding" research at the University of Adelaide, at point came out stating that drivers who are high on pot, will be much safer drivers as they'll be driving slower. The quote was "sugar smokers are more cautious, they drive more slowly because of their altered time perception."

A stoned driver will drift all over the road, will have a very poor reaction time for any given situation (such as a child crossing at a pedestrian crossing etc), but of course, this University Professor, (who may be a relative of our friend Judy) claimed that their slower speed made them safer despite their lack of control. I have never seen state governments hush something up so quickly. This university professor is still in charge of the "speed kills" research used by state Govs.

Absolutely unbelievable.

Paul. AFAIK, it depends on the state. Victoria's cameras are run by a private company. According to the contract, the company gets penalised by the government if they...
