Diesels 5119

Yep, we all have personal choice

On tickover, yes, while been driven, no

Erm.. define flexible. The diesels that I have owned-drived were superb on acceleration in any gear. Ok 0-60 aint as good, but acceleration through the gears is fantastic as well as on the motorway while staying in the same gear. Remember that in a petrol the power band is quite narrow and quite high in the range. Diesel cars have there highest torque low in the rev range so we can often overtake without changing down

Yes, in BHP terms and in maximum speed and 0-60 times, but were not on a race track are we?

Varies by car-manufacturer but not always cheaper and not a huge difference anyway

Why not compare the two? Turbos are put on petrol cars to make them go like stink, they are put on diesels to help clean them up as well...

Often, yes, but not always. I had a 51 plate fiesta for a while (as a 2nd car for wife). Cost 130 every 12,000 mile. Then had a Zafira (but same applies to Astra-corsa-vectra's with same engine). That cost £96 every 20,000 miles. Which is cheaper there?

Possibley give you that one, but neither are particularily pleasent to smell are they? The never, ever smell my engine, only that of others in front. What is the worst though is when the car infront is burning oil and the blue smoke is coming out, yuck. (think this applies to both)
