Indicating on the motorway 1735Ed Chilada ah, one of my pet hates: motorway etiquette: section3: incorrect indication ! indicating is not a request for permission, it's a notification of intent. the notification of intent ought to be given...
Not true. The car pbutted its MOT with this problem known.
The ABS light only comes on after about 10 minutes of dual carriageway driving. Apparently an MOT is only failed if the ABS fails when they are testing the car on the runners. I asked the garage that did the MOT to fix this problem (as they had previously serviced the car, and put on new disc brakes and pads and this was when the problem started to occur.) They fitted a new ABS sensor (£170) but said that as the light was still coming on it was likely an electronics problem. I've booked a man in a van with a computer to come out and diagnose the problem (£30).
I feel a bit miffed that after 8,000 miles of trouble free motoring, I get the car services and then the ABS light comes on the first time I drive the car after the service. The garage, having completed the MOT (and claiming to have spent 5 hours investigating the problem confirming that there are no mechanical problems) refused to release the car until I paid the bill of £280 (£45 for the MOT, £150 for a new ABS sensor, £70 labour). I feel a bit upset, but the garage insisted that there was no mechanical problem and to get the electrics check out so I'm doing this. If the computer says it is a sensor problem it is back to the garage.
Have I been had? Perhaps? Perhaps not. I'll provide an update when the man and van have checked it out. I'll drive extra carefully in the meantime ;-)
