Scott en Aztl‡n
Scott, you seem fairly intelligent. Why can't you understand what a limit means? Perhaps the guy was looking for an address, dropped a cig on the floor, was having engine problems... the list goes on and on and on... legitimate reasons to be not driving the speed limit... or above. That's why it's caused a limit and not a mandate.
Everyone not driving as fast as you'd like is not a sloth. Hell, some people may be aware that their driving skills aren't sufficient to drive as fast as the limit. That's *most* people but very few are smart enough to realize it.
Who determines what *your* speed should be? You do. Who's qualified to tell you how to drive? Nobody. Why do you think everyone should be able to read your mind and drive as you think they should?
Granted, your description pegs the merging idiot for exactly what he was but as a truck driver I deal with that scenario every few seconds or so in SoCal. Nobody wants to be last in line and nobody wants to be behind a truck. That's universal. Freeway, surface streets, city, country, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what the weather's like either. When I'm driving on an icy road people ALWAYS cut in and steal my following distance. If I handled it like you seem to I'd have had a heart attack long ago.
Don't you have any more significant problems than how other people drive? I mean, we're talking about a delay of seconds here, maybe no delay at all if you had to wait in line to grab a parking stub... -----
