No, the term is "obstructing" traffic. So if you could find the code in your state I'd be interested...
When it seems "other people" are the problem, it's most likely you. I don't have any problems with traffic... it's all perspective... and planning... and expectations. I don't expect *anyone* else to be a good driver, stop at control devices, drive around the limit or be at all concerned about *my* travel. I take responibility for myself *and* all the poor drivers that constantly surround me. I avoid at least one crash per day, usually more, and it's usually some nitwit in a "hurry".
I plan by allowing as much time as it takes and then some. "Saving" time when behind the wheel is usually illusionary and always stupid. I see it constantly and you could see it... if you looked.
A Dipstick kid raced up behind me at the stop sign at the end of my street this morning. Pbutted me doing the 25 limit in a residential neighborhood and I pulled up right behind him at the light. He tore from there to the next light, and the next light and the next light and 5 minutes later, guess who was right behind him having never touched their brakes? Guess who beat him into the store while he was looking for a closer parking space?
I suspect I better tell you, it was me.
You never notice that you're not gaining any time because you're either not paying attention or you're just not very observant. You feel like you're getting places faster because you travel at a higher velocity... when you're moving, that is.
What you and your ilk *don't* see (I guess you can't see it)... is that my style of driving the speed limit, at least coming to a full stop before turning right on red, not accelerating like a bat out of hell everywhere I go, maintaining a sensible following distance, etc., helps the flow of traffic. It allows people to pull out in my lane, make left turns across my lane thereby easing congestion.
Some of your nitwit brethern are convinced speed limits are set too low based on no more than the fact that they don't like it and want to drive faster. That's *exactly* how I used to think before I got a little smarter. They are blind to the criteria used to set limits, blind, ignorant and don't care... MFFY's, if you will. They don't care about older drivers, younger drivers, drivers with lesser skills and smart enough to know it. HELL NO! Those stupid bastards shouldn't be allowed to drive. Then they come here to find people with the same *totally butt-backward* view that someone driving according to their own wishes and desires and-or skill level should have the goddamm gall to be on the road. No, you and they think these drivers are the MFFY's when, in fact, it's you.
Stop. Take a deep breath and a long look in the mirror. When you're driving try to discern why the limit might be set where it is. Look for hidden driveways-streets... note the visual distance in a curve. They often set those warning signs based on how far you can see, not what G forces you experience.
When some jackbutt in a hurry rearends and injures your aging parent, or a loved one... or YOU happen to be the guilty party... I'm hopeful you might take a look and start judging your own driving style... instead of everybody else's. That's going to require some emotional maturity and I doubt you're anywhere near that. -----
