The existance of a dippoo kid does not justify sloth any more than additional LLBs who allow an LLB that has already been pbutted to catch up again justifies LLBing.
Let me guess, your acceleration is something akin to glacial, which causes drivers near the back of the queue to be there two cycles.
Your sitting at the light for two seconds or more so when you leave you have text book following distance also causes people towards the back of the queue to be stuck there for additional cycles.
A few drivers like you each cycle and at peak times one traffic light ends up backing up into the one before it and so on.
No, it's based on the prevailing speed of traffic. I believe in 85th percentile speed limits even when I am using a bicycle. See, when the speed limit is set correctly, it encourages keep right except to pbutt. That in turn results in a more predictable, stable flow. Instead of trying to compete for space in the right lane with drivers trying to pbutt lane blocking sloth, the flow moves nicely and it is much easier with a bicycle. And while I do enjoy going 'fast' on my bicycle, fast is generally between 28 and 35mph here in flatlander country.
Amazingly, I loved driving in Germany. The problem in the USA is that we have basically no driving standards. People like you think that we should all cater to any moron and that's why things are so messed up. It's a race to the bottom.
I, like most in this ng know how to determine a safe speed for a particular road. However, the speed limit usually has nothing to do with it. I really think I should make a website of speed limit signs where I drive. Pictures of the speed limit sign and the road. Then have it show you folks who think the speed limits are something more than pulled out of some elected offical's butt. Some two lane POS road with a 55mph limit and a 14 lane interstate with a 50 mph speed limit. A residental street with a 30mph limit and major 4 lane arterial with a 30mph speed limit. And other such images that show the speed limit sign has no bearing what-so-ever on road conditions.
That's why I and many others want the 85th percentile method. Because it sets speed limits based on actual data for the road. It also makes speed limits meaningful, so when there is a 30mph limit, it always means something, instead of sometimes meaning something.
IL has come up with yet a new idiotcy.... a work zone speed limit that is the SAME as the normal speed limit. It's an official admission IMO, that the posted limit has no basis in reality.
