Speed needn't be dangerous at all 1601
Nick Finnigan have similar fuel consumption at 50MPH and 70MPH There are several issues: 1) "Official" figures are more accurate than the "onboard fuel computer", just as "official" speed measurements are more accurate than those...

Ah, the old reactions business again. May I refer you to another post of mine on this topic. Try to drive so that you don't need quick reactions. In my experience this can be achieved with an extremely high level of success. I would expect to find that a police advanced driver (for example) will hardly ever find he uses his quick reactions except when in pursuit mode, or maybe to a lesser extent, on an emergency response drive. This is recognising that they have to do much more difficult 'tricks' with cars than we are ever likely to be involved with.

OK Paul I respect your legitimate concerns, but I'm not taking chances with safety, not to an extent that you could clearly identify anyhow.

I agree, but I happen to believe that one should (and I believe I do) aim to adjust the elements of driving such that the difficulties do not arise. An easy is example is the use of speed. A bend that one might take at 80 mph on a dry road might be taken at 65 mph on a wet road, so the difficulty or risk remains at the normal level. Continue to try it at 80 mph in the wet, and you can ponder the increased degree of difficulty as you sit in the hedge bottom if you like. :-)

Best wishes all, Dave.
