Red light cameras do nothing but punish. They don't fix visibility problems. They don't fix timing problems. They fix nothing. When all you do is increase punishment, at the very best you get some people who willfully disobey to stop. That's it. All the problems are still there.
When the intersection is fixed design wise, the numbers of people willingly running the red signal drop because what ever advantage they got from the risk is no longer present. The number of people who unintentionally run the red drops because the visibility or timing problems have been fixed. This value is much greater than just those who stop running the red signal because of the potentional fine.
Proper engineering of intersections and signals has been shown many times to reduce collisions MORE than red light cameras in EVERY instance such a comparison was undertaken that I've come across.
This is typical. Once intersections are fixed, RLC's are often removed and located elsewhere because they become money losers to run.
Just because you want to be a pyscho person and rape and kill 56 women doesn't make it a good thing to do.
Before you complain, you play games like that with me and I'll take it to a new level.
