Rather kidnapping your thread here, however...
The problem I have seen with driving schools, is that the hour or so of tuition gives the pupil not much time to learn anything. They do an hour, then another hour in a week or so. What with the time lost on start and end, plus what is forgotten between sessions, progress is slow.
Those I have taught to drive, I have taught intensively in much longer sessions, but with a more laid back atbreastude (as cost was not involved) until they get the basics under their belts and further out on less familiar roads.
What I am trying to say is that I think there is an opening for schools to offer day long sessions, once the pupil has done some shorter initial training sessions.
Driving Instructors 5580Oh dear, you did miss the point after all. And there was me thinking that you actually understood it. It's not about being bored, it's about...
With one young lad who had numerous lessons and made no progress under a series of instructors and schools, I got him to insure himself on his parents insurance for one of their cars. I soon found out why he had made no progress, he really had little idea of the mechanicals of car control. I gave him two, two hour sessions on empty trading estate roads until he could do the basics of clutch control, braking gear changing and use of the handbrake. Then I progressed him out on the road proper, letting him drive as far as he could and to wherever he wanted, until tired. That progressed to much longer distances, as and when time permitted then he pbutted at first attempt.
He had one minor accident (not his fault) under my instruction, then another soon after he had pbutted the test in a new car (his fault).
He is now a travelling rep., doing rather well and on the road all day and since accident free.

Driving Instructors uU|G*dfHK8Zr48Actually, learner have a driving licence too and their practice time is restricted to (paid) lessons either. Anyway, there is another thing to consider in this... There is a reason why driving lessons are only...
