Actually, learner have a driving licence too and their practice time is restricted to (paid) lessons either.

Anyway, there is another thing to consider in this...

There is a reason why driving lessons are only an hour long and it's not only financial. It is the same reason why school lesson periods are only about 40-60 minutes long too.

More speed reductions
Now I'm annoyed! They've decided to reduce more speed limits, and I really can't understand why. This road went from 40mph to 30mph. The road's mbuttive with a lane...

There is an optimum lesson length during which a person will absorb new information. That length is, apparently, about 40 minutes. So, a 1 hour driving lesson will generally consist of 10 minutes settling down, 40 minutes learning and 10 minutes debrief-recap-finishing off.

Longer lessons, such as intensive driving courses, will tend to be useful for re-inforcement of a single point by constant repebreastion. It may be a muscle-memory thing like clutch control or gear changing or it may be constant practice or talk through of a systematic approach to a hazard. Either way, it is not usually the case that there is a constant stream of all new information over that longer period because most of it will not be absorbed and will need to be repeated.

Oh dear, you did miss the point after all. And there was me thinking that you actually understood it. It's not...

It doesn't matter whether the pupil is a complete novice or very experienced. Effective teaching is usually either small bites or very repebreastive.
