Underage legal driving
My daughter will be 16 next week (aarrrggghhh!!! I'm not old enough!) She's not likely to win the "world's most co-ordinated person" prize in the near future - or indeed the next 100 years...
Well, that was interesting
I've just returned from Italy, or rather I got back into the UK at 11AM on Monday. We decided to hire a motorhome for our visit...

It's very dodgy territory when some people claim pbutt-fail "quotas" but the DSA are only doing a job (to keep people who are not up to the prescribed standard off the roads unless supervised). I think it's the overall performance you display over the 40 minutes or so. When I pbutted, I got a minor driving fault for not looking behind enough (kept it slow, jab of the brake every so often, all round look, look to the rear and move back again) on my reverse-round-the-corner exercise. This was not marked in on the sheet until the end, unlike when I got hammered instantly for not *looking* up and down the road before reversing (in turn-in-the-road) on a previous failed test (apparently I had just *glanced*). The rest of it was pretty damn decent on a wide variety of roads, proved my worth overtaking on a DC etc. My point is that things balance out and they do come right in the final result if you don't mess up badly - hard to see at the time when you have the extortionate fee on the line!) Whatever you do - DON'T GIVE UP if you believe in yourself!
