Hi Paul

Disadvantages: Unsocial hours, long hours, abuse from your fellow travellers, 30 bosses instead of one (your pupils want lessons when it suits them) sitting in a hot car with a pupil who doesn't bother washing properly, getting resulting smell out of car, pupils thinking you are ripping them off because they want to take their test before they are ready, parents of pupils doing the same (cure for that one is take the parent in the back), removing dog poo from your brake pedal, weight gain through sitting in a car all day, facing a stringent check test every 5 years (less often if you are not a top notch instructor), your best pupil suddenly trying to pull out in fromt of Connor, getting your brand new wheels scraped along a kerb, coming home after a long day and spending 2 hours on the phone dealing with cancellations, enquiries and appointment changes, doing your own accounts at the end of the year...how long could I go on...

Advantages

You can to some extent choose your hours but when first starting you need the work when it is available, it can be quite rewarding seeing the result of your hard work, you are outdoors all day, you can make a reasonable income if you work reasonable hours and for yourself (definitely not a big franchise), you can meet interesting people.
