Got my renewal quote for next years car insurance from Budget yesterday. Quoted me £60 more than last year which included a £20 arrangement fee - for what? Doing feck all as far as I could see because they had my credit card details and would just automatically renew if I didn't cancel within 14 days of receipt of letter. If I'd waited 14 days after the letter I'd have to pay them an astonishing £55 cancellation fee.
Decided to have a shop around. Tried all the usual places (confused, elephant, insuresupermaket, etc) and then tried the individual company websites, and all of them were coming up with ridiculous prices of over £100 more than last year. Came across one place called swiftcover and they seemed marginally better than everyone else, until I then added all the normal stuff on like legal protection, NCD protection and the price came to £10 cheaper then what Budget quoted me in their renewal letter.
So after spending 2 hours hunting for a cheaper quote, I managed to save myself a measly £10. Well, suppose it's better in my wallet then somebody else's.
So much for compebreastion! Moan moan moan, misery misery misery......!
