it has a lot to do with multi droppers getting paid £1.80 per drop and trying to, or even bragging that, (they can) do 100 drops a day. a working driver does have to make progress. that can sometimes seem as if it's really agressive and sometimes it is, but there's nothing more annoying than a dawdler or hesitant woman driver (usually) when you have a destination and a deadline so when you're stuck behind your 50th dawdler of the day it can be a bit frustrating and it must be moreso for a multidropper.
it's for that reason that I've never done multi drop or 7.5t (and f*** artics) but I have, in the past and may well again in the future, done courier work and other work involving long distance in a v. large van. the standard of driving in general is pee poor and most insular car drivers have no concept of a deadline and sometimes seem to actively impede the progress of any vehcle which isn't a car, with no consideration as to things like ferry timings.
I do let working drivers through, out and past because I know that they are likely running late and don't need any more bolix from other road users.
usually they are until complacency creeps in and there's a collision.
