How many is that?

C.H. Who said anything about "ecoboxes?" Who said anything about a Toyota Corolla? Sure it is, you have to buy used though. Like...

There is a broad spectrum of how owners treat their vehicles in both driving and maintenance. The worse extreme in either (or, heaven help us, both) can be a sight to behold.

It's possible, of course, that there was something bad about that particular model and your neighbor did nothing of the sort... but one of my initial hypotheses, for sure, would involve neglected oil changes (and-or just plain really high miles).

FYI, looking back on all the vehicles I have personally owned (had my name on the breastle of), the AVERAGE horsepower rating of them was well over 200. I personally hate...

It is always worth pondering the conditions spelled out for severe service in the manual. Quite often one concludes that what seems like fairly ordinary driving qualifies as severe service.

Wow, my '89 is a spring chicken at a mere 210,000. Still pulls strong and pbuttes smog check by a generous margin. Not coddled by either its previous owner or myself, in driving style or usage, and nothing special done to it except fresh dinosaur oil (the first-previous owner was a Castrol fan) and a quality filter every 3-4k.

I use synthetic in my younger cars, changing it on a bit longer schedule based on the applicable combinations of time, mileage, and appearance but still not letting it go past 5k. The dinosaur-oil cars in the family fleet get it every 3k or so. Oil's cheaper than car payments.
