Wanted car thief end in crashA prolific car thief who washed and valeted cars before abandoning them has died in a road accident. Colin Sadd, 44, from Sheffield, was apparently stealing a car from a garage at Much Hoole, near...
the ex traffic cop who wrote 'save your driving licence' advises drivers to never carry their licence or admit to having it on your person:
"NEVER surrender your licence at the roadside; you will get a chance to take it to a police station. Surrendering your licence at the roadside is an admission of guilt. Surrendering it at a police station later is just abiding by the law."
remember, that's a direct quote form an ex traffic cop. if anyone has issue with that statement, take it up with him not me ;-)
personally, I carry mine but would deny that I had it on me in the event of being pulled by plod, which these days is highly unlikelyunlessa driver has done something obviously wrong as the PNC is linked to the DVLA which is linked to insurance computers so traffic cops can see, without pulling someone over, if their licence, tax and insurance are in order.
Ilookdodgy, I was born looking dodgy and from time to time get followed by traffic plod. I do a few lane changes, odd left or right turns, all the while eyeballing them in the rear view mirrors, trying to look as shifty as possible.
after a while theyalwayspeel off and go about their business, presumably after checking my vehicle out on their computer and realising that I'm legal and I've committed no moving offences.
the last time I did get pulled over, 1st time in 10 years, I wound down the pbuttenger window and exclaimed 'may I help you officer' in my best public school accent and the stunned copper didn't even ask for my docs, just checked the tax disc which was partially hidden by the windscreen wiper and declared that he could see that 'everything was in order' and away he went.
