Serves me right to be tailgated?
If you don't know this section of the A162, it's the final few miles leading to Ferrybridge. Former A1. It now has one lane coned off, workmen in the road and a speed limit of 40 mph.
Hence I was driving at 40 mph.
After half a mile of light flashing, trailer waggling, yeah I decided to decelerate since this guy was threatening me. So what? If he is going to run into me I'd rather be slower, thanks all the same. I don't give a flying monkey if this guy is running late, needs a pee, or whatever, I am not going to go any quicker and it is obvious there is no way around me, so the message is "quit trying to push me along" and "if you're going to be a danger, you're going to be a slower danger."
Not rocket science.
I sure as hell am *not* going to exceed 40 mph under these circumstances when it's raining, there are unfortunates getting soaked in the other lane whilst working and of course the speed limit is CLEARLY marked as 40
Why are you trucker types jumping on the bandwagon by buttuming I was driving at 40 in a 60 limit?
Why are you defending the actions of another vehicle so close that all I could see is the Volvo logo looming in my rear view mirror and a grill in the side mirrors?
Do truckers get off from threatening car drivers?
Would you rather I accelerated to 56 or whatever?
I don't take any pride, joy or one-up-man-ship in decelerating because of somebody driving in a manner that threatens me, but I'll do it again no matter if it's a truck or a car driver.
