Before people could afford cars, they used to live within walking distance or local bus trip to their place of work. Cars are the only things which have...

If the public transport was better between say Fife and Edinburgh maybe more motorists would be tempted out of their cars. As a user of the Fife Circle train service I can safely say it's probably the most appallingly run piece of railway line in the UK that I know of. The trains are unreliable(even with the new rolling stock), rarely on time, overcrowded and above all very expensive. As for the bus service, well don't make me laugh. If I didn't hate driving so much I would be using a car every day as my transport as well.

Until the public transport services are improved vastly there isn't any way that motorists will be tempted out of their cars and it's just typical of the morons at Holyrood who think if they put tolls up to £4 it will lessen the traffic on the bridge while back in the real world that isn't going to happen as it's an essential crossing over the Forth for most people.

The car whether you like it or not is an essential part of life in Scotland and the UK as whole and by burying your head in the sand with sarcastic comments against motorists isn't actually going to solve the mbuttive problem at hand.

We all know what the only sensible solution is to the Forth Road Bridge problem and certainly isn't hiking up tolls to force motorists out of their cars.
