GATSO 2: The revenge of GATSO.Pt2 LONG

Oh gosh, 58 in a 50 - the end of the world is nigh!

This item is taken from Aberdeens Press and Journal local rag - I've just seen the clip on Scottish TV. Seemingly the paper didnt tell the...

Sorry to hear about that Ray, this damned speed camera business really is sheer nonsense.

Because it's dangerous...? Oh, exactly. I didn't-don't want that for my children, thanks. I prefer them undamaged. Er... no...

Anyhow thanks for your kind comment. I've just got back from a month in Spain and very tricky it was too, both on foot and while driving. As a pedestrian you find the traffic comes at you from all the wrong places, but when you've been run over a few times you kind of get used to it. :-)

We had a rental car for our last two weeks, and I was surprised how tiring I found driving over there, everything being back to front and all that. Over here I'm quite happy to drive 700 miles in a day without finding it at all demanding, but the LH drive system did require much more conscious effort to keep out of trouble.

Incidentally, out of town they seem to have quite frequent changes of speed limit. Max. seems to be 120 - but in their Mickey Mouse KPH terms of course :-( - but we often saw 100 or 80 or 60 signs for certain sections. One thing we saw quite often was an 80 sign with a 60 sign only about 50 yards further on. These were the usual white disc, red border, black digits etc. I still don't understand what that was all about, does anybody know? They also have some signs being a blue rectangle with white digits on - maybe these are advisory or minimum speed signs?

Best wishes all, Dave.
