Isn't it obvious?

Why make the following driver have to 'realise' you are slowing down, rather than give them a clear signal that you ARE slowing down? Is it really good enough to slow, without and indication to following drivers that you are doing so?

Well that's just typical isn't it. You don't read it, draw totally wrong conclusions and then start complaining. No maybe not, sorry, it was perhaps a little...

I don't think its good enough to give them 'time to respond' to your gradual slowdown - it isn't as safe as a clear indication by showing brake lights. Remember, the following driver may be on the phone, looking at the scenery or arguing with a pbuttenger, so get their attention!

Of course, if nobody is following and your on a Sunday drive then I don't see an issue.

None of which changes the misrepresentations that you made in your original post. You clearly haven't listened to anything that has been said to you because you still claim that the roadcraft...

Suppose?

Again, you are not in fail safe mode. If someone is close then absolutely get their attention by showing brake lights! Show brake lights for a second before actually slowing and you will see them slow, then you can slow yourself.

Well, you may filter out the brake lights but I would become more alert! You say they are nervous AND they may be driving with the left foot over the brake pedal. This is no time to relax and let your guard down!

But at least they indicate something to the following driver, rather than making them 'guess' at what is going on.
