Getting rid of bad smell in the car

....on the way to the tip last weekend, I made the mistake of not checking that a bag full of rotten apples was tied up probably by my other half who was clearing out the garden. The result was that on the way to the tip, when I went around the corner, the bag fellover and as well as having half the contents of the bag spill out across the rear of the car, so did probably 1-2 gallon of fermented apple juice - my other half happily told me when I got back that the bag was full of rain water when she put it into another bag, but she didn't tell me that when I loaded it into the car - gawd know why she didn't let the water run out.

Anyways, no point killing the other half over spilt fermented apple juice(?). Question is, what can I do to get rid of the smell of stale water-off cider now eminating in my car. I think I got the majority of dirty water up using a vax, but as the car dries out, the smell still pervades. I've already got two nutradol gel air fresheners in the car, and I've sprinked, liberally, the contents of a nutradol carpet shake and vac thing. I've also put down loads of cat litter (the silica type one) to pull up any moisture in the carpet, which should also trap the smell (so the packet says). My only expensive alternative is to get it valeted with a really deep clean, but I reckon that's going to cost over £100. Somebody suggested getting a steam cleaner on it, but that's another piece of kit which I'll probably only use once and then stick in the back of the cupboard, unless I use it when I clean up after cutting my other half into a million bits and laying her remains around the apple tree.
