Mine varies according to the weather as much as anything - it doesn`t like early mornings either. And i`m not kidding - the economy really is noticibly worse in the early morning, but only when it`s spent the night outside my house. When i`ve worked a night, it improves as i`m driving home. I`m seriously not making it up, I`ve even made notes of consumption etc to check that I`m not imaging it :-)

Yes, I wouldn`t do (for example) 20mph on a motorway. but 55-60mph is a more than acceptable speed on a motorway.
Yes my time has value, but for the sake of 15 minutes each way on the journey i`d much rather drive a bit sloer, save petrol money and have a relaxing drive. No f***wits 2 inches from my bumper trying to force past me etc etc etc. It`s a lot more relaxing driving at 55-60mph than trying to hurtle along. Plus if i`m running late I can put my foot down and speed up without any of the agravtion of being pulled for speeding, having points on my license. As it is when I get to work i`m nice and relaxed, ready to get going. When I get home I`m nice and relaxed, ready to enjoy my time off. I could get home 15 minutes earlier but then I`d have a more stressful drive home, overtaking, moving back to lane 1, having idiots 2 inches from my bumper (doing 70mph overtaking LGV`s, with gaps of about 6 feet between LGV`s, when lane 3 is completely clear) and generally all the fun of the fair. No thanks! I`d rather get home relaxed than spend ages calming down once I get home.
Plus the vast majority of accidents happen in lane 3, a small number in lane 2 and very few indeed in lane 1. And considering that I get to clean lots of them up, I`d MUCh rather not be involved in one myself. I can drive much faster safely, and my car is capable of driving much faster safely, I just choose not to because even the best driver can get caught out by other idiots, and they tend to live in lanes 2 and 3 :-)
