Ya know, equating total brake failure and wheels falling off (generally attached to the rotors) with one headlamp is well insane.
Well, then here, you can chasitise me for the following things.
For the mav:
1) I had pin break and lost a piece of clutch linkage. I was blocks away before I could turn off the main road. I drove back without a clutch to near where it occured, parked, got out and looked for the piece of linkage. Repaired with tools and parts I had on board.
2) And this, just a three weeks ago, I had a rear brake line burst. I drove home slowly on the front brakes. cept for the pedal going to the floor, the performance wasn't much changed.
3) A turn signal-brake lamp fell out of it's holder. I drove around like that for maybe a day before I went into the trunk and noticed it.
For the mustang:
1) the time the turn signal bulb burned out in the mustang. I must have gone 3 whole blocks that way.
2) When the kid smashed the front end... I drove 60 miles without a front right turn signal or headlamp. Once I got home I pulled out the old headlamp and a maverick turn signal and put those on the car until it went to the body shop (removed before driving 3 miles to the body shop in the daylight)
For the torqueless wonder car:
1) drove with a burned out headlamp to the autoparts store! (but I think I did that during the day)
