Greenpeace disrupts Land Rover Production

sounding much like they were saying :

Hmmm. I'm not so sure about that, but it's certainly close...

A couple of years ago, we stopped for lunch at the Dairy Queen (burger chain - and the only place in town to get lunch) in Homerville, Georgia*.

We were driving an acid-yellow-and-acid-green 2cv, on California plates. We have English accents. We were fairly obviously Not Local.

Sorry... Roadcraft system question again
This question is primarily aimed at Mark Foster, 'MrBitsy' and 'Uno Hoo', and anyone else who advocates the 'you must not change gear while braking' method. I've been watching these increasingly hostile threads for...

We walked in, looked at the menu (another sign of not being exactly local), and ordered food from the teenage black girl behind the counter, who sported a foot-tall hairspray beehive.

Her mouth dropped open to the counter, and she *even* *stopped* *chewing* her gum. A full twenty seconds later, she recovers her composure enough to say "Hol' on thay-uh" (each word dragged through treacle) - and she's gone. At a similar pace.

She's back, with the entire rest of the staff, who stare at us like we have several heads each. Of course, all the customers have stopped putting food in their mouths (but not chewing. I think it might affect their breathing if they do that) and are staring at us, too.

"Say 'at agay-un"

"Yes, we'll have that, that, that, please"...

Ten jaws hit the floor. We are now *officially* Martians.

Eventually, one of 'em recovers composure.

"I doan' t'ink dey from roun' hee-yah" "I doan' even t'ink dey from Jaw-ja"

Then there was the motel clerk in Enterprise, Alabama (famous for a large statue of a Boll-Weevil, and absolutely *closed* at 9pm on a Saturday.) who asked us if we were talking German. At the time, she was holding our UK pbuttports and driving licences in her hand. We had to point out what was "name" and what was "address" on the licences. We ended up getting a discount for sheer entertainment value.

consider I TBH I don't know how people can be so analytical about how they drive. Since this and the Roadcraft thread...

I'd put Peter slightly higher than that. I'm sure he's vaguely aware that there is a world past Caversham Bridge. He's probably scared of it, though.

* - No, seriously. It's smaller and more backward than the name suggests...

Of course it will feel really hard to you - you need guidance to put it into practice. If we just consider roundabouts for...
