Apologies if you have already seen this. Clarkson: Love him or Hate him - he has a point! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Another day, and another letter arrives from another...

hehe I agree.. it is not good, but there are plenty of other cars out there that can't keep up with it, or their drivers just don't use the loud pedal as much. The 0-60 time has been timed to be 13.5 seconds, this is a lot shorter than the specifications for vehicle. I usually get 50-55MPG with 380-440 miles per £32 tank full of fuel.

I don't get any choice of company car, but when it gets replaced in 30K it will be replaced by a Focus 1.6 turbo diesel estate. I drive between 400 and 600 miles on a normal day. One working day in every 7, I spend in the office, The job is as a computer field service for a video rental chain. Most days are 10-12 hour days with driving time being around 8-10 hours. I cover all of UK including NI (also Germany) although I tend to fly to NI (and Germany) and hire a car when I get there.

As an example of a normal week, this is where I have been this week. Based from Peterborough, Monday was Blackpool and Manchester, Tuesday Darlington and Newcastle, Wednesday was Thamesmead, Gillingham, Stowmarket and Thetford, Thursday was my office day but I went to Southend-on-Sea on a emergency job, and finally for this week today I went to Porthcawl and then 2 jobs in Bristol. That comes to 1759 miles for business only, and according to autoroute it is 4 days, 3 hours and 41 minutes of driving time. 48 weeks of similar mileage works out at 84432 miles, that's how I manage to do so many miles. I had a telephone call from Inland revenue a few weeks ago to answer a questionnaire for company car drivers as they had identified me as being near he top of the top 1% of the uk's highest mileage drivers. There are not that many people that do more driving for work than I do, and I doubt there are many that have to suffer it in such an uncomfortable car.

Look out for a 03 plate cayenne red skoda fabia estate with some large antennas on the roof. The one on the right rear is the VHF-UHF amateur antenna, the one on the left rear is the HF antenna (or just the triple mag mount) . Smaller antennas on the car are a 2.4Gig collinear and a GPS patch mag mount and an on glbutt mobile phone antenna.
