High Gas Prices Fuel an Octane Rebellion 2006

Well, Mr. Neoconservative expert, just where are "they" building them and who are "they"?

No could be about it, its very well established technology. Just no need to use it currently when crude oil production hasnt even peaked yet. Lie. Natural gas doesnt. Nukes...

"They" wouldn't be oil producing countries would they? If "they" were countries like Saudi Arabia, wouldn't they be interested in maximizing profits? If they see a shortfall of refined products in the US (coming to a country near you in Q4 this year), they have two options. 1. produce more heavy-sour crude which the US can't refine quickly enough or, 2. build their own refineries and charge us gasoline addicts whatever they want because they know we will pay it. That is until they decide to start selling it for Euros instead of exclusivly dollars. At that time I fear we as a country will become priced out of the market as our currency collapes due to the wreckless mismanagement of economic policies over the last 5 years.

Did you learn anything about petrodollars? It doesn't sound like it. Your ignorance and right wing talking point arguments don't hold water. Ever heard of Matthew Simmons? Shale oil is your magic bullet eh? Your tooth fairy putting coins under your pillow.

sleuthing. I ran across them for a year or so when digging up information about refining capacity and distillate production-demand. The thing about EIA...

Let's see: America uses 20 million barrels of crude a day. We produce on the order of 8 million barrels a day. Non Opec nations crude output expected to decline this fall (Russia in particular).

Just how much production can your tooth fairy provide and how soon? I recall that Shale oil was going to be economicly viable once oil hit $30-barrel. At $65+ a barrel, shouldn't we be seeing some significant shale oil production coming online right about now?

Roger that big guy. Here's an interseting hit: Two excerpts for your academically challenged self: Amoco said its commercial production should get underway by 1980, with full scale...

Finally, remember that the gas "crisis" of the 70's occured due to a roughly 5% shortfall in supply. 5%. Does gas going fromm 25¢ to 50¢ a gallon overnight ring a bell?

As individuals, the time to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, a finite resource, is now.

Those who refuse to do so will be the ones who suffer the most, propaganda, talking points, mbuttaged economic data, big oil buying congress, or no.

Did you get that new Suburban for your wife yet, or should I say your "partner"? With shale oil coming online gas ought to be back in the 90¢ range within the next 6 months or so right?
