Scott en Aztl‡n Did you read anything from the original article? Or have you ever read anything about gas grades? If the car was made after...

That's still a choice. If your car breaks down and is in the shop for an extended period, or the price of gas gets too high, you CAN take a bus.

You can also move to a place that's on the second bus line (the one you would tranfer to after your 20 minute wait downtown).

Let's face facts: you just not willing to put any effort whatsoever into taking advantage of publc transit.

How many of those remaining years will you be able to drive? What are you going to do when they take your license away? Do you have your head buried in the sand, behaving as if you'll be able to drive until the day you die?

Better watch out, let that become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Meanwhile, realistic people, especially those who are getting on in years as you say you are, plan ahead and are prepared for the inevitable loss of driving ability.

In that case, you should consider lubing yourself up with a little crude oil as you're destined to keep taking it up the butt from the Big Oil companies. ;)

Guess what? You can change towns, too.

Guess what? You can also change employers! ;)

However, I completely understand if paying $3-gallon for gas is the lesser of all these evils. But let me ask you: how high will gas prices have to get before any of the alternatives I have suggested look appealing to you? $4-gallon? $5?

Everyone has a price. ;)
