High Gas Prices Fuel an Octane Rebellion 2027
I always get a laugh out of posts like this. Everyone seems to buttume we...

speak for yourself paleface.

FWIW, here are some of my numbers...

dotmax has been tracking his (mine, not scott's) days without driving (or riding in other people's cars) since Jan 04.

Last year is was car free 122-366 days. This year i got a little more serious and logged 100-219 car free days.

This works out to about 2.3 days-week in '04, and 3.2 days-week this year, but it sounds a little more impressive when expressed as about 7 months in the last 1.75 years.

In broad terms, that works out to 28-91 tanks of gas not used. (the arithmetic is left as an excercise for the reader). that's at least* a 31% reduction in gas use.

*due to more meticulous trip planning and secondary effects of not driving to post-work destinations (i.e. daily grocery shopping, etc), my miles driven are down by about 55%, not 30%. Instead of gbutting up once a week, it's more like half a tank every two weeks, so it's better than 28-91. My check registers aren't handy so i can't directly evaluate that term.

some money.
