My issue is more with the billions of dollars spent on inefficient mbutt transit for some areas, combined with San Diego's Smart Growth plan that expects almost everyone in the new housing to take a bus. It won't happen.

It slows a bit, but it's not LA style gridlock. It's maybe a 5-10 minute delay compared to completely free-flow conditions, and it's due to have a significant improvement project completed very soon. (Completion date for the northbound parts was Summer '05, but obviously it's late.)

It gets thick, but I've never seen it stop and go for miles. Maybe for one or two exits in El Cajon. CA-125 to CA-52 and the completion of the College area upgrades on I-8, as well as the new I-8-I-15 interchange improvements have really smoothed things out.

The problem is not people buyng the technology, people are already buying similar technology when it is offered on cars. The problems is...

But hey, who wants new freeways? ;)

My goal in LA is to escape by 3 pm. If I can do that, usually the drive home is alright. If not, it gets ugly. In the summer, my goal is to avoid LA at all costs.

OC has done a good job of building out roads so far, I don't expect them to screw it up too badly.

Cars and trucks frequently travel I-15 at 65(+) mph 5'-10'-15' apart. Nobody is interested in saving time, their goal is to drive faster and...

That's the idea, but generally you can still rent them to family members, but there's all the standard insane homeowners buttociation rules. The no rent is just another one.

There's also only so many homes available that are near non-bus transit (way too slow), and they're generally not much cheaper without a damn good reason. Couple that with the Trolley taking a path through many less desirable neighborhoods (mainly between San Diego and TJ) there aren't that many great neighborhoods for someone to move into that a family can afford and fit into, and be close to transit..

There are exceptions, like Santee, but until the mid-coast extension is completed (probably 5-10 more years) there aren't that many choices that are really that great for a middle clbutt family. The obvious downside of Santee is that it's far from most of the regional job centers.

I'll be honest with you: if every car were equipped with some sort of guidance system that would GUARANTEE that the car would move...
