How Much is Gas in your Area__ 1782

I paid $2.03 in Southern CT today. I will be driving as normal this spring and summer (approx 1500 miles per month).

Did you copy that off of GOPUSA.com? If you really believe that the tar sands in Canada can replace the crude being used on a daily basis in this country, then you are sorely mistaken...

Every year I see these stories in the newspaper where people are quoted as saying they won't be going on vacation 'because of the price of gasoline' That seemed absurd to me, so I sat down and thought about this idea. If I were to travel from my home in CT to say, Orlando Florida that is a 2400 mile round trip. If my auto got only 12 Miles Per Gallon (it gets more, btw about 20, so this is a conservative estimate) the trip would 'cost' me the price of 200 gallons of gasoline. Even if the price increases by $1.00 per gallon, that is an extra $200 that my Disney vacation would cost me, at a very conservative estimate. A more realistic estimate would be 150 gallons of gas and the increase will probably be more like 50 cents per gallon, an increased cost (over the current cost) of $75 for my gasoline. I really don't think this sort of increase wills top people from taking their vacation. Yet the newspapers always carry stories of people saying "I was going to go visit my grandmother 200 miles from here, but now I can't because of the increased gas price". Bah, for the price of a dinner they'd forego the vacation? I just don't see it.
