How many Speed Cam Penalty Notices go to Court 1350

Traffic officers can not just 'drive at 100 mph in a 50' because they 'want to' - there has to be a good reason. If advanced training meant that it was always safe for a trained driver to drive at those speeds - then there would be no need to say; "You can only ignore speed limits if adhering to them would hinder the policing task you were then engaged in". Even for advanced drivers - the risk of accident increases as they drive faster - that's why there are the occasional (well publicised) incidents of police officers on emergency calls being involved in accidents.

I don't believe that drivers *do* learn to drive properly by making mistakes. They learn to driver properly by being *taught* how to driver properly - and sticking to the methods they have been taught. On a simplistic level - how many new drivers stop 'shuffling' the steering wheel the moment they can remove their 'L' plates?

But driving at speed - without any advanced tuition will not automatically make you a good driver. I regularly drive as a pbuttenger with other people who have only ever pbutted their DoT driving test. Many of them make me cringe with the way they drive - and yet the majority of them are of my age and have been driving for 30 - 40 years. They most certainly have not improved with experience!
