You really are utterly shameless. The lies you'll tell to try to win an arguement! I thought you were better at this than plowman, but...

Totally agree. A cheap car costs, what, a couple of hundred pounds. buttuming you're over 25, insurance and tax between them can cost well under £300 per year. Driving an average 10,000 miles per year in a moderately economical car, the total cost (without con charge) should weigh in a long way under £1500 per year. In perspective, a pack of fags a day will cost around £1800-yr. So, how far will a person go on £3.56 per day by public transport? Will you reach the 27.5 miles the budget car driver will enjoy, driven at whatever times suit him? Let's buttume our "poor" person works for minimum wage, 5 days per week and grosses just shy of £10K per year. I don't know what that would be net, considering income tax, NI and benefits, but I bet it's not a lot either side of £10k. The congestion charge more than doubles the poor sap's transport costs, adding just shy of £2,000 to his bill. That's adding a full day's work every week for a year he'll have to do on top of whatever he's alread doing, just to pay the con charge. And that's before tax and NI and any potential decrease in benefits.
