I got completely lost! 5355I've a friend who uses Tom Tom and he say's it can't cope with M2 J3A229. It would have got him lost if he hadn't known...
Yes, but the point is that in your 899cc car you managed to drive means even on your suspect estimates that you used *more* fuel than was necessary for a 4.0 litre "SUV" to make the journey. You berated people like me for our choice of vehicle but you actually waste more fuel because of your terribel driving.
Err no, your mpg calcualtion could only be correct if you brimmed the tank before and after the trip. It's far too easy for pumps to cut out before the tank is properly full, it's far to easy to fill the tank with more fuel before the trip than you pu in after the trip.
"About 22 litres" isn't good enough.
Yes, the official figure for your car was 38mpg which is dreadful for such a small car with a small engine.
The terms "loads" and "suspect" really sink your claims over mpg dead in the water.
Sadly it is totally unrealistic for your car. It's so far above even the best estimate by Fiat that applying Occam's Razor means that the simpler explanation that you dont' understand how to calculate mpg applies.
Yes, right.
There are several opportunities to do a U-turn on the motorway. Now call me daft but I know the look of the motorway in both directions and the route northwards to the Dart crossing doesn't look at all like the route south and west. There are big hints like the motorway signs saying "Dartford" and "Dart Crossing" and "Toll" when you head north. It should just have been possible to remember that you didn't pay a toll when you drove towards Detling, so shouldn't expect to pay one on the way back.
There is also the fact that on the way into Kent you pbutted a motorway service station shortly before the M20 yet on the way back you didn't see one at all. Another clue that you might have been going the wrong way.
Err and of course the fact that you pbutted Gatwick and Heathrow and yet chose to go in the opposite direction to signs for both airports (with little pictures of aeroplanes on those signs).

And the bit I still struggle with, you crossed the Thames three times. At one point you were actually going in the right direction, immediately after you drove over the bridge and paid the toll a second time. What in the name of all that's oily made you decide to turn around and pay the toll a third time?
