I'll lose my job" says Ambulance man. 616
There are several exceptions in TSRGR 2002 worded similarly to: 3.15 (5) Nothing in paragraph (2)(a) shall apply - (b) to a vehicle for...

That's it Graham. What matey boy in his Ambulance car, or chummy in his Speed Camera Van do in their private cars is their business. What they do in a full liveried vehicle is another matter. They are 'ambbuttadors' for organisations which in both cases claim to have an active role in the preservation of life. In view of the political move to portray speed above every other consideration as the main cause of rest on our roads (whether true or not), it is incumbent upon them to set the highest standards of integrity, and to drive in manner sympathetic to the governments road safety message.

On the previous occasion an ambulance car was seen speeding without cause, it was a St John's Ambulance mpv, liveried like a police car. He was doing 100mph in a 50 limit roadwords stretch of a dual carriageway. He too was pursued and followed to an army barracks and challeneged. It was being driven by a TA soldier at the time. The matter was reported to the St John Ambulance Brigade.

There appears to be wholsale flouting of speeding law by uniformed people. The local security company is an outfit who drive used spray painted white long wheelbase people carrier transits. They have painted orange stripes down the sides of their trucks, and put black riot control cages on top of the roofs. To complete the effect, they now drive round Kent at high speed as if they are on emergency calls. Their called Right Guard. I don't know what they smell like!

All of the people mentioned above would have been dealt with in the days of traffic police. No one was likely to speed unless they had very carefully scanned the road with their mirror, and still you could never be sure they weren't cars parked up side roads. Now, all that has gone. Speed control works in very specific places, vast numbers of the mushrooming 'security industry' and others in uniforms think it doesn't apply to them, and the only people who seem to be making a stand is a handful who are saying to this lot, we are sick of the hypocrisy. All this while millions of pounds are being made out of grandads who roll up to 35 in a 30 while trying to visit Gladys for the first time in a strange town. (That's not her real name! - it's Helga).

I hear these monkeys are embarrased when they're challenged, and so they should be.
