What about the childr-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-nnn?
Chris, this is a metaphor. Perhaps I should spell it out for you? (I thought you were brighter than this.)
1) I do not want to live in a society where what I may own is decided by people for whom I have no respect whatsoever. Particularly by baying mobs with room temperature IQs being whipped into a frenzy by fascist, antisemitic, racist newspapers like the DM.
2) In real terms, there is no particular evidence that 4x4s are either "destroying the planet" or killing babies. Yes, if you're in a Fiat Punto and someone in a big heavy car runs into you, you're going to die. It makes no difference if that car is a Land Rover or an S Clbutt Merc. And I have no doubt that the "excess" fuel used by 4x4s is less than that used by footy supporters travelling to televised games (Why? Watch it on the telly.)
If you want to see a *real* waste of fuel, go to Dover one night and watch the *hundreds* of artics queued up down the seafront waiting to get on the ferries. Why isn't that freight on the railways?
3) The anti-car brigade are using divide and conquer tactics. Once they've "won" on 4x4s, they'll be after sports cars, then big cars, then cars with big engines and so on. They don't want *any* cars.
4) Rocketry is your hobby. It's dangerous, antisocial and unenvironmental. It's also completely unnecessary. It could be banned tomorrow without noticeable impact. I notice that as soon as I picked on *your* thing, you get all defensive about it. Now you know how 4x4 owners feel. You can't choose what the mob wants stopped. The minute your lot kill someone there will be calls to ban it, no matter how irrational they are.
