IL's hunt for revenue continues 4022

Road recordings for Kerouac Project
Hello all. I am a music professor at Baruch College and a composer. I am collecting sound material for a performance of a musical-theatrical event based on the clbuttic American...

Well, one of their hunts for revenue from nonresidents is in the process of getting thwarted.

IL's hunt for revenue continues 4023
Brent P Motorhead Lawyer relatives that Not that I haven't considered it. Always figured I didn't go through often enough (about 4 times-year lately). How do they figure whether or not I...

This past week, I traveled through Chicago on my way to visit relatives in Ohio. I'd been warned about the steeper tolls on the Tri-State Tollway (BTW, if it's a *TRI*-state tollway, how come there's only *one* state that's charging tolls on it?), so we got through nicely southbound. Then I made my mistake: I bought a boat from my brother.

Coming back, with this tiny (12'; maybe 500 lb total, including trailer) 10-inch tired trailer, I found that tolls mid-day are *more than doubled* over the basic toll from my Jeep! Now, I'll admit I apparently got a break from the nice young blonde at the Skyway. She either didn't see, or didn't charge, for the trailer, so it was only $2.50 there. Then, on the north side, the $1.00 toll for the Jeep jumped to *$2.85* with the addition of this little trailer! WTF? It used to be a simple 50% increase to go from two axles to three! So a plan grew in my Cheap Bastard brain ...

GOD BLESS THE POPE WHO IS QUICKLY FADING AWAY
and this just in. The Pope, on whose agony and rest George W. Bush is shedding crocodile tears, did not relent even after the war had started. Pope John Paul II's Resistance to the...

I'd just gotten through this rathole of a highway system by *2:00 pm*! Was I going to wait for the tolls to drop at *8:00*? Hell no! Illinois is as stupid as Connecticut once was when I lived there. They don't charge at *every* exit. They only charge at *some* of them and at the ends! So I rolled off about one (toll free) exit south of the Wisconsin line, went about 2 miles east to US 41 and followed it back to the state line - where it immediately rejoins I-94 on my way home.

OK; that's my story. In future, I'll probably just suck it up and pay for the Jeep, Jag, BMW, or whatever I'm driving, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay more than twice as much for the privilege of hauling my bike or boat along. So my question to Brent and any others more intimately familiar with the locale is: Where do I get off and on to avoid the southern toll gate? =;^)
