and I dont mean all of them of course, just a few of them setting a bad example........
Left the ferry at Cairnryan (from Larne) on Thursday night at 10pm ish. The A77 was shut due to road works so we had a monster of a diversion to get back up the road to Troon area to collect another vehicle left there on Monday. Anyways, the diversion was along the A75 towards Newton Stewart and then from there up to Girvan etc.
As some of you will know, the A75 isnt the straightest of roads, dont think the Romans ever got that far. While doing 45-50 mph in a line of traffic doing about the same, we were overtaken on a series of blind bends by a HGV. Yes a HGV, not a 7.5Tonner but a proper artic, HGV. Then a few moments later, another one. Didnt seem to matter that there were bends in the road. Also, didnt seem to bother them that if a car came the other way they just cut back into the left lane regardless of there been a car there already which of course had to brake pretty quickly. Three of four HGVs did this.
Then, as the above wasnt enough. The East bound A75 at Glenluce has a climbing lane. At the start (bottom) of this there a chevrons where there is a reserve for westbound traffic turning right across our lane. Even though we were in a transit van, we probably would of been able to get some speed up there and move towards the front of the line of traffic. HGV had other ideas though: he started to overtake on the chevrons, didnt matter that a car was indicating right to go onto the reserve. So HGV 1 is followed by HGV2 and 3 up the climbing lane. Any car in the left lane couldnt move to the right as it was a wall of HGV's. 100 yards up the hill, yet another HGV was in the westbound lane (for oncoming traffic) overtaking all of us!!!!! The HGV that had started overtaking on the chevrons quickly lost steam and so had to move over to let the other HGV's past. Again, didnt matter that there was a car there, he just had to slam is brakes on and give way to him. All he had managed to do in that stupid manouvre was to overtake one vehicle, Us.
Reporting Speeding Policemen 558I remember some years ago - be about 20plus - at Skegness, Lincolnshire. A motorist's wife was caught exceeding the speed limit, fined and points (no fixed penalties in those days) as a result of a motorcyclist...
Further on, we again watched HGV's overtaking on blind bends, forcing oncoming traffic to emergency brake, forcing people they were overtaking to slow down dramatically so they could move back into lane.
Idiotic truck drivers...... 556Steve a actions good always truckers Lost the augument then? Run that one past me again?? Geez, Anachronisms to him. AGAIN. A woman was...
I'd very much like to say that all of these idiots were wearing plates from a certain part of the UK that uses the ferry a lot, but seemed to be plates from both sides of the water.
Talking to a couple of HGV drivers later in the night at abington services (Nice chaps) it seems that the above is a regular occurance. There is a lead vehicle that will inform all those behind on his CB that the road is clear-unclear and describe the vehicles he pbuttes so he can pbutt on where the gaps in the traffic are. This would be all very well and good if it wasnt for the vehicles entering the main road from side roads and heading straight into the path of these idiots that think the road is clear cos the lead vehicle says so.
I did call D&G Police headquarters later that night to mention this with the hope that the road is watched. If it hasnt happend already, someone will die on that road if this is allowed to carry on.

Im hoping that any decent wagon driver (especially those that frequent this group) will report any of their co-workers for actions like these as it sets a bad example for the whole industry.
