OK, forget the Virginia reference on this one... I see, just as soon as I posted, that it is Alexandria, Louisiana.... Nuts. I hate it when that happens. Well, the 12 year old still did get handcuffed on a subway platform in Virginia, and those cops still did the breathalyzer thing in a bar up around DC somewhere, but still Virginia. It seems that Virginia isn't 100% alone in "over the top" law enforcement.
And I'm not all that happy that Georgia is trying to figure out a way to charge that runaway bride with something. Get a life - she's a world clbutt ditz, that's all. She lied to the cops???? Big whoop. So did Martha. What happened to freedom of speech in this country? Is this the Soviet Union, where the public officials are on an equal plane with God? Why don't we just pbutt a law against all lying? Yeah, you can't tell her that her dress is beautiful when it makes her look like a fireplug. No more lying, period. Sound fair to you? Didn't think so.
Yeah, back in the 70's and 80's, when law enforcement was so lax that I was getting my 2-way radios boosted out of the car about once every 18 months, I wanted better law enforcement too. But couldn't they sorta limit themselves to the ordinary crimes against property and persons, and stop all this extranneous nonsense of attempting to make running away from a wedding a crime, or attempting to cover yourself with your relations and soon-to-be relations by making something up and getting the cops involved in the fairy tale for a whole hour or two until you come clean about it?
