I see a lot of people suggesting this when topics similar to mine are brought up.
Frankly, although it seems many people in this thread feel I was being quite dangerous anyway by not letting him past (a perfectly valid point of view, in retrospect perhaps it would have been a better idea) trying to "brake check" the tailgater is just madness, especially at motorway speeds.
BBC Breakfast news! 5409Accidents on built-up roads tended to be the fault of the motorist rather than the motorcyclist. A significant number of accidents were caused...
What if there is another guy tailgating him, and another tailgating him? By doing that you've got a pile-up on your hands before you know it.
I wouldn't do this even on a 30mph road, it doesn't benefit anyone. If I was going to do anything involving lights I would probably just give a couple of flashes of my hazard lights, but even then it could backfire tremendously.
mbuttive flame!
Are these even legal? Surely not? One things for certain, if anyone ever tried to scare me by using one of those aimed at my car I would be straight on the blower to Plod.

My wife does this. I don't see the point in that either, as it could quite easily just enrage the tailgater even further.
I just carry on as normal and let him past when a suitable opportunity arrives - as I did in my OP (although as people have pointed out, I probably could have pulled in sooner - consider my wrist slapped!)
