Indicating on the motorway 1735

Ed Chilada

ah, one of my pet hates: motorway etiquette: section3: incorrect indication !

My clutch cable snapped! Just got to the end of the road where I work, and suddenly...

indicating is not a request for permission, it's a notification of intent.

the notification of intent ought to be given at an appropriate time where there's space to drift into a safe gap safely and complete a manoeuvre.

such indication ought to be received in an appropriate manner; a car needs to make a manoeuvre, hang back and let it happen, but some berks indicate at the wrong time having run up the back of whatever is in front.

this causes them toneedto overtake rather than re-evaluate their mistake which, in turn causes them to indicate. some artic drivers are some of the worst culprits. other arctic drivers are "really annoying" by pulling out in good time and "hogging" L2 for what appears to be a very long time indeed.

thing is, when you're driving a large speed restricted vehicle, you get peeed off with the nob heeds won't allow another driver into their space (L2) and won't move over into L3 when they see you indicating.

what they do is put their foot down, a bit, and stay in L2 until they have made their 'manoeuvre' and you've been forced to come off the gas and wait forthemand all the while L3 is empty. twunts !

so, that's why truckers and other professional drivers think 'f*** you, you'll either learn how to drive on a motorway or sit behind me until I'm done' and that's why when an artic indicates and I'm in L2, I'll flash my mains, indicate right and pull into L3. I like to get a right hand raised from the steering wheel wave from the driver as I overtake as a signal of appreciation that I appreciate that momentum is everything but most truck drivers are ignorant twunts.

which is why I and everyone else spends most of their time on motorways either *being* the twunt or playing the gent. let someone in-out and they will either appreciate it or be indifferent to your courtesy. every crbutt indifference annoysyoubut every reciprocated courtesy rewards both parties or it would if the roads weren't populated with moronic twunts.

That surprises the heck out of me, considering that later in the same article it says...

... and breathe :-)
