Insurance costs

You may remember me moaning about having to pay an extra £180 for business cover a few weeks ago. I've just visited the local branch and it's looking more like £15 now! It really doesn't make any sense to me though...

The reason why it was so expensive before was because I was quoted as a 'Software Engineer'. This puts the price up really high, but if I'm a 'computer programmer' or a 'software consultant' the price is MUCH cheaper. In my opinion a software engineer, and computer programmer are virtually the same, I certainly can't see how the insurance companies can differentiate between the two. The insurance person said that it's because it has the word 'Engineer' in the breastle, so they expect you to be rushing around sites fixing stuff in a hurry etc. This is almost always not how a software engineer works, a software consultant would be more likely to do that kind of thing.

Conor Lol worse: Stockton on Tees... Before the high street was pedestrianised the centre was car parking, with two lanes up and down each side (you'll probably remember it bec ause of your travels...

I think I will be talking to somebody higher up in the insurance company to get this rubbish corrected! For my job I do computer programming, although my contract says that I am a software engineer. I'm certianly not going to pay the software engineer rates, even if it invalidates my insurance. It seems unfair that some computer programers will be treated differently to other programmers just because they've called it software engineering.
