Is it a club? Not by most club stds it isn't. It is a group of GT4 owners, run by a self elected 'committee', who are not accountable to the members of that group.
Arranging discounts does not cost anything, apart from a persons time. Who decides, the 'group buys'...The self elected committeee of course.
I haven't seen the new membership cards, but I doubt they cost more than a small percentage of the 'membership' fee.
Whichever way you look at it, it is very difficult to account for how the £20 each member contributes is spent.
Try asking to see the accounts. Those 'members' that have, have been fobbed off, and given evasive answers. Hardly a suitable response if the 'club' is as open to it's members as it should be.
AFAIK there has never been an annual audit submitted to members, in the same way as there is with most 'real' clubs. It would appear that the 'club' finances are a closely guarded secret, which in my mind, naturally begs the question of why, if they have nothing to hide.
Quite a few GT4OC members would like to know where their money goes, but keep quiet, after seeing the 'committees' response to those that do ask the question. They remain members purely because of the discounts offered, and the social aspect of meeting other GT4 owners. Mike.
