Don't worry doesn't sound patronising at all.

I know I still make mistakes, but try to only make them once. Learn when I do. I have to admit, unless the traffic is doing substantially more and I'm going with the flow, I do tend to stick to 70 when on the motorway, but I'm not "Scared" of going faster, but even when the flow is much faster, I'll only do it until I can get back into the inside lane, even "Crawling" with the wagons for small time before I can overtake again is no bother, and sometimes much more relaxing on longer runs.

I've been seriously considering it, but I want to make sure I have a car that is goign to behave correctly. The Celica isn't dengerous by a long way, nothing that for instance would fail an MOT but there are some wear tear issues I'm putting right first, things where I can feel like the top of the suspension strut knocks on large bumps or potholes, yet does nothing on a simple bounce test, and isn't visible even from under the car. I'm getting the whole suspension setup replaced, slightly upgraded, and the steering checked over for any (even minor) aging or wear, to make sure it drives like a new car agian. Some might say why bother, the simple answer is, I've only had it six months, I like to drive it, and even though it is 15 years and 140k miles old, it is almost totally rust free (just one or two small stone chips), some mechanical wear, but wrong with the engine or trans. It's a quick car, and fun to drive.

Once it's right I'll seriously consider the IAM,or Rospa

Can't fault anything you've said here. I've always considered myself as an average to above average driver (having seen some real no hopers reading the paper, shaving, drinking tea etc as a comparison). I know that I have a long way to go until I would consider myself good.

Driving within or at the limits can be fun if you actively look where your going. And sometimes a challenging twisty back road well below the limit is so much more fun than a motorway.
