of course, I've said that from the start. I was simply highlighting the idea that whatever drivers "should" do, it's what they do do that greatly determines how I act. Saying that a driver on the slip "can easily adjust speed" doesn't help at all when the driver isn't going to adjust speed. I'm just being pragmatic.
Is it just me 491PC Paul No, I PREFER if drivers would follow the HC. Joining drivers need a small adjustment of speed to join safely - much less danger than a driver feeling they have to...
Regardless, if I can make it easier for them by moving over, without disrupting other traffic, I do. I see no reason not to. When I'm merging, if traffic moves over it makes it easier for me.
That's my view too (you acknowledged it in a previous post when I said "if safe to do so").
I know what you mean but would say that if it's the wrong action then it's not courteous action, just as holding up a line of traffic on an A road to let someone out of a side-street is not courteous to that traffic. The problem surely isn't one of over-enthusiastic courtesy, but a lack of awareness of everything around them and how it all looks from above.
Aye. That's why I move over if it makes sense to and safe to do so :-)
