I don't follow that logic behind that theory at all.
Is this common 1003As I said, if the signage isn't clear, then it is worth indicating - if you're the last car in the queue. *If...
I do the MSM thing without fail at every turn or deviation in my path. I do it without fail, even when I KNOW I have absolutely no need to. It is an habit I would not want to ever deviate from. I don't waste any of my time or attention making the decision 'do I need to', I just do it automatically. It permits the greater part of my attention to remain where it needs to be, consciously on the observation part.
To make it more clear...
I need to make a left turn...
I will have already made several checks behind and in front, my hand rises automatically to the indicator, then with a final check around the indicator goes on at the pre-chosen spot. This is followed by yet more observation, before the actual manouver.
The basic MSM is just not adequate.
You clutter up your thought processes with making the decision whether to or not - I'll just give the signal and feel that little bit safer knowing I did the right thing everytime through habit.
The greater part of my driving is down to the building of good quality safe driving habits long ago. It makes the job easy and allows me spare mental function to obseverve and see more of what else is happening around me.
