Welcome. We may appear unfriendly, but that's mostly because we're really really oppressed here (as motorists in Blair's Britain I mean), When motoring sections of the newspapers are subjected to 'politically correct' censorship that limits motoring reviews to 4 door family saloons and the 'scamera' partnerships are only concerned with sending us photos of how FAST we are driving rather than how WELL we are driving; we have a lot of unresolved anger management issues.
I'm only joking of course - we're all perfectly level headed here, just stick around and see our good natured joshing!

Yes - it sounds very odd. If you are don't expect to have problems from the police in the future it might be worth writing a letter to the Chief Constable asking a, if this is approved procedure and for how long it as been in effect? b, why a photo is necessary and how it will be used and stored ? c, why (if it is properly approved etc) the officers are not equipped with better equipment than a disposable camera?
Was it a policeman or was it a 'Community Support Officer' who took the photo?
